The Importance of Having a Plan in PlaceThis last Saturday I was able to attend a Sheepdog Seminar in Lakeland, FL. LT Col Dave Grossman, Police officer and Pastor Jimmy Meeks and nationally recognized church violence expert Carl Chinn, are without a doubt passionate about protecting the flock of the churches. You cannot dispute any of these men’s heart felt desire to make sure everyone that attended this seminar understands the desperate need for a security team in every house of worship across the United States. For those that attended if you did not hear the urgency in these men’s voices you were not paying attention or sleeping through the seminar. At this seminar you will learn Bible scriptures that stress the importance of being diligent in protecting the flock. You will hear LT Col Grossman explain the effects of war termed “killology”. He works through the psychologically of killing and cost of war on the human soul. The importance of being prepared and trained plus the rage of violence that is infecting our fallen world. Jimmy Meeks, a sidewalk, fire and brimstone preacher shows plenty of scripture from the Bible that reinforces men with the sheepdog mentality to take up their shields and swords to protect their churches. If you have been called, Meeks gives you the ammunition to take back to any church that understands the Bible and that it is the living word. No one can dispute this call of duty of protecting the flock as in Proverbs 27:12 it states “A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.” To add to this dynamic duo, Carl Chinn puts the evidence in front of you from his personal experiences where a gunman took hostages at Focus on the Family ministry and where he, as a security team member, came face to face with the killer at New Life Church in Colorado Springs. Carl’s testimony of the shooting at New Life Church in Colorado Springs will send chills down your spine as he described the incident that happened on December 09, 2007. Carl talks about how the murderer, armed with an AR-15 and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition in his backpack, made his way into New Life Church after killing 2 sisters and wounding 3 others in the parking lot. Carl walks you down the hallway here the murderer entered the building and those tense moments of how the he and another New Life Church security team member, who were way out-gunned by the killer, managed to take him down before he was able to get deep into the church and kill more innocent people. " Faith-based organizations must increase their awareness of, and preparation for, the accidental, criminal, and environmental hazards capable of compromising their primary ministry purpose." - Carl Chinn If any pastor can walk away from Carl’s story and not understand the importance of providing a security plan for their church, they are doing a disservice to their members and those that visit that church. Carl provides you the information and ways to set up an effective security team for any church. I would recommend the Sheepdog Seminar to any pastor, youth minister, elder, deacon and church security person that has considered, is in the process or maybe thinking of putting together a Sheepdog team in their house of worship.

Faith is not something that we can explain. Well, in my opinion, faith is just how we feel about something. When you do not need any proof or evidence to believe in something, then that is faith. I am sure that you are not aware of it, but I know that you have faith in something. Religion and God are not the only things that you can have faith in. You can even have faith in the people in your life.
